Running as an Independent Candidate

I’d like to talk a little bit about what it means to me to be running as an independent candidate for Deputy Mayor.

Throughout this election season, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and speak with many of the candidates running for both Mayor and Council. Unsurprisingly, there are several candidates running for both positions whose ideas and priorities I agree with. We all care about Kingsville, it’s natural that there are areas where we see things the same way.

I’ve also done meet and greets, attended community events, and had conversations with other individuals who will be on the ballot. This does not mean that we are on a team or running together as a group. We are all part of the same community, and it’s beneficial to talk, listen, and share ideas with one another.

After more than 40 years of dedication to our town, I believe I can bring a fresh perspective to council that isn’t currently represented. I want to bring my own experience and judgement to the table. At the end of the day, we are all individuals on the ballot. Each elected candidate casts their own vote, makes their own decision, and is accountable to the residents.

If elected as Deputy Mayor, I will be ready to work with whoever the residents of Kingsville choose to be their next Mayor and Council. Working respectfully and constructively is part of the job – and that’s something I’m prepared to do.
